Speech Therapy for Children in Singapore

Home-Based Speech and Language Therapy

At Wonder Words Therapy, our AHPC-certified therapists work with children from infancy through to their teens on speech sounds, language development, stuttering and social communication. We work in our River Valley centre, your home, your child’s school, or online — whichever setting works best.

Assessment

If you’re concerned about your child’s communication, the first step is an assessment. Our therapists will speak with you, observe your child, and — where needed — carry out formal standardised testing.

At the end of the session, you will leave with a clear picture of your child’s strengths and needs, specific therapy goals, and a recommended plan. No jargon. No waiting for a long report before you know what’s happening.

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy helps children who are difficult to understand, who leave out or mix up sounds, who stutter, or whose speech is inconsistent. This includes children who are late talkers, children with articulation delays, and children who have phonological difficulties.

Your child may benefit from speech therapy if they:

  • Are not yet talking, or saying significantly fewer words than expected for their age

  • Are hard to understand to people outside the family

  • Leave out or swap sounds in words (e.g. ‘tup’ for ‘cup’, ‘wed’ for ‘red’)

  • Repeat sounds, words or phrases or seem to get ‘stuck’ when speaking (stuttering)

Language Therapy

Language therapy helps children who understand less than expected for their age, who have a limited vocabulary, or who struggle to put sentences together. It also supports children who find it hard to follow instructions, answer questions, or express themselves clearly.

  • Your child may benefit from language therapy if they:

  • Have a limited vocabulary or use very simple sentences

  • Struggle to follow instructions at home or in class

  • Find it hard to answer questions or stay on topic in conversation

  • Are not using gestures, pointing, or other ways of communicating

  • Have a language profile associated with autism, Down syndrome or developmental delay

Stuttering Therapy

Stuttering (also called stammering or fluency disorder) is more than just repeating sounds. It can affect a child’s confidence, willingness to speak up in class, and social relationships.

We use evidence-based approaches including the Lidcombe Program for young children. If your child is repeating sounds or words, prolonging sounds, or getting ‘stuck’ before words come out, early support makes a significant difference.
